About
Pamela Graham, born 1984, is a South African born London based Artist and Designer.
Shortly after graduating from the award winning Interdisciplinary Design course in Bristol she set up her practice in Dalston, London.
Her main body of work centres on fascinators, which she makes from rubbish, her sole material base. This choice is a deliberate reaction to a consumer society that throws away more than it consumes and she soon discovered a rich and vastly untapped material base. She developed the slogan ‘There Is No Such Thing As Rubbish Only Raw Material’ which leads her practice and existed as a poster campaign in 2009. What she terms ‘raw’ material has come to mean many things to her and she even turned her own body hair into a material focus for her highly praised show Just Veet It! in 2010.
‘I have always had a raw approach to design and I aim to inject a real sense of play into my work. Fascinators are the perfect platform for this. The process of making the Fascinators is very instinctive and sculptural, sometimes worked from designs and sometimes a result of experimentation in studio.’
All Fascinators on this site are available to order. If you wish to commission Pamela to make a Fascinator to your design specifications or if you wish to purchase one of her pieces please contact her.
